Night Journey

Where was I, said the narrator. He took a sip of water and continued: What does it matter? We can draw diagrams forever. Like a city of intertwined neighborhoods, houses on top of each other; we can create landscapes that extend endlessly like star maps from gods and creatures, dreams and realities. We can try to analyze the mind that turns the hunter into a deer, him into a warrior, the warrior into his enemy, and them into the Minotaur, the sage. We can try to free the labyrinth from the dream, to give its body to its owner. But what good is it? None of them can tell us where we are. We present the stories that Ertuğ Uçar had previously collected in two books, Dream Failures and 17 Types of Loneliness, together with new ones under the title Gece Yolculukluğu (Night Journey). Uçar shakes the cover of the night from both sides with his stories. In the section of dreams, he dives into the other worlds that sleepers enter. Lighthouse Stories, on the other hand, catch the other edge of the coverlet; it observes the lives of the keepers of forgotten lighthouses on capes, at the very ends of islands, and off the coast of towns.
