Ömer Seyfettin - All His Works Book Description Ömer Seyfettin was born in 1884 in Balıkesir Gönen. He continued his life by doing military service, teaching and writing. Although he left the military, he was re-enlisted when the Balkan War broke out. He fought on the Serbian and Greek fronts. He was captured by the Greeks during the defense of Ioannina Castle. He returned to Istanbul after a year of captivity. In 1914, he was appointed as a literature teacher at Kabataş High School. He continued this duty until his death. He became famous with his articles in the Genç Kalemler magazine published in Thessaloniki, and gained fame with his stories published in Yeni Magazine during the years of World War I. He is the founding name of short story writing in Turkey. He is also one of the pioneers of the Turkism movement in literature and an advocate of simplification in Turkish. Ömer Seyfettin died in Istanbul in 1920. (From the Promotional Bulletin)
