One, None, Thousands
One, None, Thousands is about a man who becomes aware of the gap between the personality he sees with his own eyes and the personality seen by others, causing him to question his existence. One day, while talking to his wife, he discovers that his nose is crooked, and this fact, which he has not noticed all these years, sends him into an existential crisis. This event causes him to question his entire existence. He becomes obsessed with the idea that he is unlike what he imagined in other people's eyes and goes in search of the reality of his character.
The book, which is a product of Pirandello's most important years, is a turning point in the author's career.
"How could I tolerate this stranger inside me? How could I ignore him when that stranger was also me? How could I accept the fact that I was doomed to carry the "me" inside me for a lifetime, blindfolded over my eyes and exposed to the eyes of others?"
