Ottoman Identity
On what kind of cultural basis did racist ideology develop in the West and how did it directly or indirectly affect the late Ottoman intellectuals?
How did the rationalist and libertarian philosophy, which became dominant in the West since the Age of Enlightenment, see the "East" and "Turkish" and what was the validity of the image it created on these issues?
What were the various dimensions of the worldview that formed the Ottoman identity in this period, when the process of socio-economic and cultural change had not yet begun?
Taner Timur brings together three separate studies in this study. All three studies are not independent of each other and they form a unity that discusses various dimensions of our "identity problem". We believe that the roots of the cultural heritage of this period, which are much deeper than the weak summer of the 19th century and are not worth researching due to the influence of the "Westernism" ideology or a mechanistic historical materialist approach, will be useful in the parts related to the Ottoman ideology, which is unknown outside a narrow circle.
