Dilimiz Dillerimiz
Previously, we published the Guide to Turkish Problems by Necmiye Alpay: A guide aimed at educated literates who will be interested in subtle language problems. In Our Language, Our Languages, Alpay reviewed and brought together his articles and speeches published in various places, especially Radikal Kitap. A very valuable, mind-expanding book has emerged, touching on topics such as common mistakes, confusing issues, "fatwa-like understanding", spelling problems, native language(s), reference sources.
"Undoubtedly, it has been a long time since this society has become one of those societies that consider being able to put letters together to be able to read and write; grammar and literature are bundles of knowledge that are completely disconnected from reading and writing; courses with these names arouse hatred in students rather than curiosity... However, Even though Turkish is mediocre in terms of legality, new needs lead to changes in it, like every other language. Therefore, when looking at what is happening in Turkish, it is important to understand which changes are in line with the basic characteristics, tendencies and needs of Turkish, in other words, which ones improve its expression possibilities. On the contrary, it should be noted that it impoverishes and corrupts Turkish.
"Today, at this point in history, we need a kind of educational and cultural revolution rather than language campaigns that act within the same framework of the language policies that played an important role in the escape from Turkish, and even call for the implementation of these policies in a more police way."
