Paganism - Isms Series 6 Book Description Paganism is a form of belief that has its origins in the ancient nature religions of the world and is the general name of these religions. People who follow these religions are called pagans. Although the use of the word pagan has existed in many Western languages since ancient times, the use of the word paganism is more recent. For example, while the word pagan was encountered in English in the 14th century, the word paganism was not encountered before the 17th century. Paganism believes that every living and existing creature and "thing", regardless of human, animal, plant, stone or soil, has a soul and that each of these souls has a soul. It is a belief system that believes that it is sacred, has thousands of years of experience, and is not bound to any rule book, method or system, but is based only on living in harmony with nature.
