Born on theater stages in London in 1904, Peter Pan was later brought to book pages and then to the big screen with the publication of Peter Pan in 1911. JM Barrie's hero, who takes his readers from the streets of London to Nowhere, is identified with eternal youth. While this boy who does not want to grow up symbolizes freedom for his young readers, he reflects innocence and longing for childhood for his adult readers. Author JM Barrie benefited from both the characters and events in Stevenson's Treasure Island book and mythology while creating this world. As a matter of fact, the character of Peter Pan bears traces of many mythological figures such as Hermes, the messenger god who can travel freely between the world of gods and the world of people, and the goat-footed Pan, the son of Hermes and the protector god of the countryside. This tale, which tells about Peter Pan's endless childhood and the experiences of his friends and enemies, will continue to live as long as there are those who believe in it.
