Philebos
Plato is undoubtedly one of the most important and influential philosophers in the history of thought. He contributed to the institutionalization of philosophy and the formation of the written tradition in philosophy, and was the initiator of the idealist philosophy tradition that would determine the entire medieval thought with its two-world metaphysics. Plato, who is also important in terms of his influence on Christian Medieval philosophy and Islamic thought, addressed all the problems discussed throughout the history of thought hundreds of years ago and built the first major philosophical system.
Philebos is Plato's dialogue in which he discusses, for the last time and in as much detail as possible, a subject that has occupied him throughout his life, namely "what the good life is". Plato, who discussed the good life in society in detail in the Republic, which constitutes the culmination of his mature works, once again brings up the hedonism that he had previously opposed in the dialogues of Protagoras, Gorgias and Phaedo, in this dialogue he wrote after the Republic. He discusses at length pleasure and whether pleasure should be a determining or important component of a good life. Philebos is also an important dialogue in terms of giving Plato's relationship with Pythagorean philosophy and a new example of the method of addition and division, which became the dialectics or basic method of the philosopher's old age dialogues.
