Düstûru'l-amel li Islâhi'l-halel is a remarkable work by Kâtib Çelebi, one of the famous Ottoman thinkers of the 17th century. Kâtib Çelebi wrote this treatise in 1653, at the request of the government, at a time when the Ottoman treasury was in a cash crunch. In this respect, Düstûru'l-amel, which has a small volume but rich content, can be considered as a crisis period work that offers solutions to urgent problems.

The philosophical basis that Kâtib Çelebi created for the ideas he put forward here attracted more attention than the actual content of the work, and over time, it influenced many writers, especially Vak'anüvis Naîmâ. The methodological approach applied by the author in constructing the work reminds us of the working style of today's modern researchers. In this respect, Düstûru'l-amel is a truly unique work.

It was a serious shortcoming that this valuable work had not been published in accordance with scientific criteria until now. This book in your hands has been prepared with the aim of filling such a deficiency. An effort was made to construct a text as complete as possible by comparing the author's copy written by Kâtib Çelebi with other manuscripts.
