The roots of leftist thought in Turkey are based on the Young Ottomans - Young Turks - Union and Progress line, which is the main vein of political opposition movements. However, when compared to other political thought movements that have been influential in Turkey, the one that has the most intense relationship with international and universal sources of thought is the left. In the Left volume of the Political Thought in Modern Turkey series, the adventure of left thought in the Ottoman-Turkish history is discussed without neglecting the relationship of left/socialist thought with international agendas and debates. The interaction of left thought with other political thought movements, the limits of its influence and influence on them are examined. The paths of left ideology in Turkey, on the spectrum from social democracy to communism, are followed in interaction with their activism. Within this wide spectrum, critical portraits are drawn of the movements, magazines and individuals that contributed to the formation of left ideology.
