  • Translated from Persian: Siyaveş Azeri
  • Husheng Golshiri, one of the important representatives of contemporary Iranian literature, writes about the Qajar period through the dreams and nightmares of the last member of a noble family in this short and successful novel. He reconstructs his subjective history. This novel is a concise expression of lost time and expresses the death of the landed nobility.
Golşiri spent a few months of 1973 in prison because of this novel and lost his job at the Ministry of National Education. Şehzade İhticab, which was made into a movie with the same name, was adapted into a play in Tehran in 2001, but was censored on the third day of its staging. Prince Ihticab has been the subject of much literary criticism in Iran. One of the most important studies on this novel is Salih Hüseyni's book titled "Comparative Evaluation of The Sound and the Fury and Şehzede İhticab", which compares the novel with William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury.
