Rebel Cities: From the Right to the City to Urban Revolution
In 2008, an economic crisis broke out in the real estate and related finance sector in the USA, which had been inflated speculatively since 2001, and soon engulfed the whole of Europe. Rebel Cities analyzes this period of time, where the gap between the crisis narrative constructed by neoliberal economics and the position of the masses, through whom the crisis is compensated, is gradually widening. With one foot on the street, the book also offers a long-term conceptual analysis in favor of direct action. While Harvey concisely presents here the understanding of urban economics that he has been developing since the second half of the 1980s, he also examines what new directions conceptual questions and analyzes can point to in terms of urban social movements.
