The Recent History of Arab Countries, written by Vladimir Borisovich Lutskiy (1906-1962), one of the leading Arab history experts, who is considered the founder of the school of Soviet Arab historians, is one of the first attempts to write a systematic history of the Arabs. Lutsky began his training in the modern history of Arab countries as an independent historical discipline in the 1930s. An enthusiastic person who was completely devoted to his subject, the author, who never hesitated to try new paths, is rightfully considered the founder of the school of Soviet Arab historians.
Lutskiy outlines a period of approximately 500 years in the history of Arab countries, extending from the 16th century to World War I at the beginning of the 20th century, and gives landmarks; Systematizes and generalizes Arab history. Lutsky writes from a Marxist perspective. He strongly criticizes the colonial policies of European states, which reveals the negative impact of their presence in the East on the fate of the region.
