“Hi, I'm the person who reads your e-mail… and who is in love with you…”

Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know when someone is monitoring their work e-mail. (As everyone in the newsroom knows, this is company policy.) But they just don't take it seriously. They continue to send endless and endlessly funny messages discussing every aspect of their private lives.

Meanwhile, Lincoln O'Neill still can't believe he has a job that requires reading people's e-mail. When he applied as an “internet security officer,” he thought he would set up firewalls and defeat hackers, not report every time the sports reporter sent dirty jokes.

When Lincoln sees Beth and Jennifer's texts, he knows he has to warn them. But he can't help being entertained and fascinated by the stories they tell.

By the time Lincoln realizes he's in love with Beth, it's too late to introduce himself.
