In his book Remembering: Footnotes from Daily Life, Doğan Hızlan narrates the interesting people and events he encountered in cultural and artistic environments in the form of anecdotes. At the end of the book, there is an interview titled "Like a Fish in the Aquarium" by Murat Yalçın with Doğan Hızlan. In this interview, Hızlan reveals his views on the 1950s Generation, publishing, literary environment, daily life and popular culture, starting from his childhood and youth, and also exhibits his habits, curiosities and tastes.

Murat Yalçın says the following about Doğan Hızlan on the back cover of the book: “Dogan Hızlan is a person neither of the paths nor of the streets, but only of interior spaces. He wants to look at landscape paintings instead of wandering around the countryside and seashores; He wants to listen to the sound of music, not the sound of the streets; He wants to approach people not from history or politics, but from literature; wants to navigate through lines and pages, not on paths; He does not settle for what happens by chance, he wants to choose; He doesn't say 'Oh dear, such things can happen', he wants to say 'Oh my dear, such things can happen'; He is not interested for the sake of business, he is interested for the sake of being useful; He seeks intelligence in duty and pleasure in work.”
