It is possible to see the present study as an attempt to erode this understanding of Durkheim in Turkey and to pave the way for a self-reflexive re-reading. Together, the articles included in the collection offer us an alternative image of Durkheim. At this point, rethinking Durkheim means, in a way, rethinking sociology. On the other hand, as soon as you start reading Durkheim's own works and in appropriate contexts, you realize with astonishment that the shirts he was put on are quickly torn off.
