Return
Andrey Platonov, whose complete and uncensored novels and stories could only be published in the 90s, is now considered one of the most important writers of the twentieth century Russian literature, and even the impact of his works on the Russian language is greater than that of Kafka. It is compared to the impact it had on all Western literature. The Return is a compilation of nine stories selected from Platonov's many stories. The stories set in the first half of the twentieth century reflect the turbulent life of this period, which witnessed great revolutions and wars. Platonov does not deny the power of negative conditions in a world where poverty and hunger, pain and cruelty are rampant, but he highlights hope, love and the determination to be happy despite everything in his stories.
A subtle language that seems simple, extraordinary characters that seem ordinary, who can slip into the absurd. A realistic narrative - when Platonov's humanist perspective and subtle sense of humor are added to all this, each of the stories turns into literary treasures that can be read many times. We present this compilation, which is a nice introduction to Platonov's world, with Günay Çetao Kizilirmak's direct translation from Russian.
