In this book, the most important of the great struggles put forward by the working class in the last half century are discussed.

France 1968: General strikes and factory occupations embracing millions of workers… Chile 1972: Workers defending the Popular Front government established workers' councils and demanded control over production… Portugal 1974-75: Blackist officers overthrew dictator Caetano and paved the way for the popular uprising that lasted for 18 months opened. Iran 1979: The oppressive Shah regime was overthrown and workers established independent councils (shuras). Between 1980 and 1981, the Solidarity movement in Poland demonstrated working class creativity and democracy. These struggles did not achieve their ultimate goals, but each of them practically demonstrated that the working class was the engine of social change, as "rehearsals for revolution" that provided important lessons for the struggle for socialism. These struggles, which contain rich lessons for new struggles, continue to be a source of inspiration and courage.
