Selahaddin Eyyubi
Saladin, who conquered Jerusalem in the Christian world, has an extraordinary example as a legend and a European hero image, unlike any other Muslim. Islamic sources see him as an ideal sultan, and the Crusaders he fought see him as a real Islamic hero. In addition to his military successes, sources agree that, above all, he had a modest personality. His generosity was another outstanding virtue, so much so that when he died, he had a few dirhams in his personal treasury.
Saladin was known as the 'potentissimus princeps', the most powerful leader, a title with military and political dimensions given by his enemies to charismatic European emperors.
