
Salahattin Köseoğlu's Memories of the National Struggle
Salâhattin Köseoğlu started his military service as an Ottoman officer and continued with the Balkan and Çanakkale wars and as the commander of the Caucasus-Eastern Front. He was one of the first to cross to Anatolia during the armistice period. He was appointed Commander of the Third Corps, headquartered in Sivas, and together with Kazım Karabekir's Fifteenth Corps and Ali Fuat Cebesoy's Twentieth Corps, he commanded one of the main military units on which the Anatolian movement was based. Together with his corps, he ensured that the Sivas Congress was held safely.
When his corps was abolished in 1920 and transformed into the Central Army, he participated in the work of the First Parliament as a Mersin deputy between December 1920 and April 1923.
