Saying and Doing
Although other philosophical traditions have always approached the Anglo-Saxon philosophical tradition with a certain distance, the book of JL Austin, who grew up in this tradition, became a "fertile" work that had a great impact not only in philosophy and linguistics, but also in the entire field of social and human sciences. The theory developed in this book, published in 1962, inspired creative studies in many fields, from literary criticism to economics, and was addressed and deepened by thinkers such as Searle, Derrida, Ricoeur, Habermas and Butler. Based on Austin's theory, which can be summarized as "to say something, to do something", Saying and Doing is a classic that should be in the library of everyone interested in philosophy, linguistics and philosophy of language, and literary theory.
