Segah Makamı
Segâh Makami tells about a period when gloom, pain and death descended on Turkey like a nightmare. The novel tells the story of a period after the September 12 coup liquidated the left-socialist movements and revolutionary hopes were replaced by disappointments: the period of the survivors, those who were hurt and broken by wounds. But Segah Makami is not a "defeat" novel. In the following pages, the virtue of the effort spent to insist on the struggle, to recover and to move "despite everything" in order to resurrect lost hopes is pointed out. Continuing the struggle despite the mass suffering, but how? The novel gives the reader the answer "love". "Love", which is the antidote to death and pain, is handled differently in Segâh Makami, but differently from the known styles: Love is a cure for the wound, a direction for the desire, a life for the flesh, a meaning for life, an addition to bread, a breath for the soul, and fuel for the struggle. The tragedies of the revolutionaries who passed away from this world in the nooks and crannies of the cities, crowded streets, prisons, demonstration areas and slums are depicted in the water of love. Great excitements travel together with great loves. Possibilities are sought for the impossibility of love, moments of reunion gain value with completely different meanings. The hope of overcoming the seeds of defeat and "starting from where we left off" in the insistence of life and revolution is discussed. The painful pleasure of starting over creates the delicate texture of Segâh Makami...
