Sewer Anasi or Beyoğlu
Bilge Karasu . Bilge Karasu, whose entire works we lost on July 10, 1995, delivered the texts that he thought could be published after his death to Füsun Akatlı. A suitcase and a large travel bag full of "written papers" to be read, scanned, sorted, sometimes reconstructed... As a result of Akatli's two and a half years of meticulous work, two books emerged: Lagimlaranasi or "narrative" in Beyoglu or Texts that would be appropriate to be included in the general category of "fiction" were collected; A radio play and two opera librettos written by Karasu were also added to this work. The Other, Other Texts, consist of essays, texts, notes and diaries, and their common denominator is that they are based on the concept of "other".
Füsun Akatlı says the following: My only concern is; It was to be able to present a writer (and a person) with that meticulousness, that meticulousness, that refinement, in front of the reader in a guise that would fit him/her... I took into account the concerns he expressed about the texts both in our mutual conversations and in our correspondence. In addition to my unfamiliarity and devotion to Bilge Karasu's author identity and 'writing'; I took strength from the fact that he entrusted me with all his writings, notes, drafts and even doodles, knowing full well that he did not have time to complete them and give them their final form. "With these two books, this distinguished master of our language and this very special person who devoted his entire life to writing, writing, language and dreaming will be presented to his readers with the eleven books he was able to leave in the space of his 65-year life. In fact, nothing else would be what he wanted. For all his writings, of which notes were taken, which remained unfinished, which were well thought out, designed, and little written: 'The sun has set, what a shame, behind them!' I'm the one who said it. He wouldn't even say that."
