Seyid Abdulkadir as a Politician and Leader
Seyid Abdulkadir is one of the pioneers of the Kurds who were stuck between the Kurdish identity and the Ottoman identity due to the conditions of the period they were in. However, Seyid Abdulkadir's diplomacy, ideas and works regarding the future status of the Kurds after the First World War disturbed both the governments of the period and the nationalist Kurdish intellectuals and leaders. While governments accused him of trying to establish an independent Kurdish state, nationalist Kurdish circles accused him of betraying the Kurdish cause. In this study, Seyid Abdulkadir's biography was discussed. Although Seyid Abdulkadir spent most of his life in Istanbul, where he was subject to compulsory residence, he had a significant influence on the Kurds. Seyid Abdulkadir, who performed important duties in the Ottoman bureaucracy and Kurdish societies at critical times, followed a different path from the Kurdish leaders and played a leading role in the Kurdish political movement reaching the organizational stage in a healthy framework and in accordance with the age. One of the main purposes of this study is to examine the life of Seyid Abdulkadir, an important Kurdish leader in the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the early years of the Republic. Although many scientific studies have been conducted about his father, Sheikh Ubeydullah, no academic research has yet been conducted on him. The present study is a first in this sense.
