  • Snow, which Pamuk calls "My first and last political novel", is one of the political novels of the 1990s in Turkish literature. It is the best and most ambitious novel that deals with the atmosphere and describes the period with all its violence and conflicts. Discussing the story of political Islamists, leftists, Turkish and Kurdish nationalists in Kars through faith, the headscarf issue, military coups, and the anger and despair of living in the third world, Pamuk in Snow displays his sense of humor to the fullest, which we see from time to time in his other novels. We are publishing Snow with an epilogue that touches on previously unknown details of the writing and publishing processes of the novel.

Twelve Poet Ka, who has been exiled in Germany for years, finds himself in the city of Kars for an interview, four days after his return to Turkey. Under the snow that falls slowly and non-stop, he tries to get to know this sad and beautiful city and its people, street by street, shop by shop. Teahouses in Kars filled to the brim with unemployed people, a traveling theater company that came from abroad and was stranded in the snow, girls who committed suicide and engaged in headscarf resistance, various political groups, rumors, rumors, the Karpalas Hotel and its owner Turgut Bey and his daughters İpek and Kadife and Ka There is the promise of love and happiness. Snow is a novel that must be read to understand Turkey's basic political conflicts.
