Snows of Kilimanjaro
The Snows of Kilimanjaro consists of ten short stories selected from Hemingway's most admired and popular works. The stories were selected from his works named The Winner Takes Nothing, Men Without Women, The Fifth Column and The First Forty Nine Stories. Additionally, among the stories Hemingway wrote for adults are his first work, Murderers, which was deemed worthy of being featured in an American magazine, and his autobiographical Fathers and Sons, which refers to his father's suicide for the first time.
Hemingway's biographer Carlos Baker described Francis Macomber's short story The Short and Happy Life as "a wonderful combination of self-observation, hearsay and fabrications". The short story that gave its name to the book, of which Hemingway boasted that "I told all the facts here", contains so much material that novels could be written about it. These short stories, beautified by their simplicity, exciting with their creativity, and being one of the best examples of their genre with every carefully crafted word, further glorify the American master writer.
