Socialist Movements in the Ottoman Empire
Author: George Haupt, Paul Dumont
Socialist Movements in the Ottoman Empire was first published as a book in 1977, with the suggestion of Observation Publications to Paul Dumont, with the contribution of historian Stefanos Yerasimos. Therefore, although the book is a translation, it was published only in Turkish.
Socialist Movements in the Ottoman Empire contains important information about the policies of the central political parties of the period, Union and Progress and Hürriyet and Entente, the debates in the Parliament, the Macedonian issue, the Armenian socialist parties (Tasnaktsutyun and Hinçakyan), and the upcoming Balkan war.
In the studies carried out until the publication of the book, information about the Thessaloniki Socialist Workers' Federation, which was mentioned in passing among the Ottoman socialist movements, contributed to subsequent studies as the most interesting and comprehensive experience of the period.
