The field of sociology is society, its subject is the events taking place in society, and its aim is to identify, analyze and comment on the general structure, functioning and course of society. These determinations, analyzes and interpretations provide important data about the past, current state and future of the society in question. Religion is a human and social reality. It is an undeniable reality that almost every person and society throughout history has had some kind of relationship with religion. Although this relationship takes many different forms, it has always existed as a phenomenon. In fact, the essence of the matter lies in the fact that humans are naturally in need of believing, connecting and receiving help. In this context, Sociology of Religion is a field that aims to provide both religious teachings and information about society at a minimum level. This also represents a common ground where religion and society meet. In other words, it is a scientific field that focuses on the detection, analysis and analysis of how theoretical religious knowledge meets social life.

In this study, definitions of religion, the subject, method, history of the sociology of religion, social relations and moral values, social institutions and religion, religious groups and communities, new religious movements, social change and religion, tradition, modernity and religion, post-modernism and religion. Based on the topics of , globalization and religion, sociology as a discipline and the sociology of religion, one of its subdivisions, are examined and presented to the reader.
