Many of the state theories discussed in this book deal with the industrialized nation-state or the dependent nation-state in a complex relationship with dominant capitalist economies. In today's globalized information economy, these theories are still valid, but they need to be adapted to a rapidly changing context. As a result, state theories focus on how nation-states try to reproduce their own power - their search for legitimacy - in the face of the fact that they represent the interests of the few rather than the many. In a globalized context this process becomes even more complex. Because although the nation-state is increasingly limited in terms of the opportunities it can use to convince the multitude of its legitimacy, information technology and communication have made information accessible to the multitude. Therefore, like all other social theories, it is useful to re-evaluate state and political theory in the light of the parameters of the change process. The questions that the book seeks to answer (How should the State be approached as a research object? What kind of debates are there about what the State is and how it functions? Different perspectives on the role of society and the State lead to the differentiation of politics related to social change on the basis of both means and purpose.
