Yaz Geldi - Seçme Öyküler
Parasiz Yatılı, which won the Sait Faik Story Award, was followed by Kuşatma in 1972 and Benim Sinemaları in 1973. The originality, liveliness, internal consistency and integrity of the story world in these three books, published one after the other, revealed the creative power of Füruzan, a self-taught writer, as well as the solidity of her preparation. The description of the "Füruzan incident" made by critics and the determination that "it brought respectability to the story" was also confirmed by the stories in the books titled Gecenin Öteki Face (1982) and Sevda Dolu Bir Yaz (1999). One of the reasons why it has gone through so many editions since its publication is its ability to create a strong sense of authenticity. It has been said a lot that he uses cinematic expression, but what is in question here is the visuality specific to literature, which only genuine literary figures like him can achieve. He weaves his stories with countless details. Every detail is functional: Colours, lights, smells, sounds, shapes... The unique language of each of the characters in the story, the words they use, the way they use those words, their silence, their posture... This selection opens the door to his world.
"Summer is here. When my aunt leaves in the morning, if there is bread at home, I buy it and go out with olives. I am very happy in summer, when I go out. There is always something going on. If there is no food, there are places at home, behind this garden, where they unload the caravans. They have very good food. But I love olives and bread. It's summer now. I know these places. You're a stranger. Do you know how many ferries come and go here? Isn't that easy?
