The environment in which humanity lives today affects a very wide area, creating the most vital and destructive problems in our world today; Most importantly, it is gradually reaching levels that threaten human life; dozens of flood disasters occur every day as a result of climate change, nature destruction we have created, and countless destructions caused by unconscious production and development continue to increase. The threats posed by this have led to the development of different policies by certain institutions and individuals over the last forty years, especially the discussion of preventive measures. After the 80s, researchers and planners working on the environment and environmental problems developed strategies on the "sustainability" of society and the environment. Sustainable Society and Built Environment - Spectrum of Strategies, which is the first book of the series initiated by Istanbul Bilgi University Publications on this subject and written by Ilhan Tekeli, a leading scientist of our academic world, and young scientist Anli Ataöv, deals with the different definitions of the concept of sustainability, and how these definitions are used in planning. It examines how it is transferred to practice and proposes a method on this subject. Another important feature of the study stands out as the compilation of different strategies implemented in the world to ensure sustainability and the systematization of a range of strategies based on the proposed method. While the authors argue that the sensitivity towards environmental culture around the world today is open to differences; It envisages that planners and designers have important duties in contributing to sustainability, and that they should have a broad and comprehensive vision for the change of society's lifestyles according to the requirements of environmental culture.
