Suvarnabhāsa Sūtra is one of the most important Buddhist sūtra texts written in Sanskrit, it belongs to the group called "Nine Dharmas" and means "Sūtra of Golden Light". Suvarnabhāsa Sūtra, one of the main works of Mahāyāna Buddhism, spread among societies that adopted Buddhism in Central Asia. Uyghurs have known the Suvarnabhāsa Sūtra since the 10th century, and the work was translated into the Uyghur language under the name Altun Yaruk Sudur. Sanskrit manuscripts found in many places such as Khotan, Afghanistan, Kizil, Turfan, Niya, Dandan Uilik, Shanshan, Dunhuang have played a vital role in determining the culture of Central and East Asia. Suvarnabhāsa Sūtra has been translated into Chinese, Mongolian, Sogudian and Tangut languages as well as Uyghur, Tibetan and Khotan languages.
