In this book, I not only explained Tarık Buğra's writing adventure, but also tried to explain Turkey's ups and downs social and political adventure from the Armistice period to the 90s. The main line of the book is, of course, Buğra's life story. This is what was prioritized and cared about. The reality of 70 years of change and transformation that Turkey has experienced; It was used as a 'background' for the crystallization of the socio-political portrait of Buğra that we tried to embody: Because Buğra was an important person who lived in a certain time with a life that fate assigns to every mortal, was subject to the conditions of that time, and finally returned and witnessed this time due to his position and profession. is one. It should be considered natural that his temperament and philosophy determine the direction and content of the testimony.

Because, in the final analysis, Buğra is a man of a philosophy, a thought structure, and even an ideology. If the texts of the testimony converted into interpretation are mostly objective and sometimes subjective, which is true, this should be explained with Buğra's position, personality and philosophy. Despite everything, his testimony is important. Because Buğra is not an ordinary mortal, he lived in times when Turkey was surrounded by problems, but despite everything, it was open to hope and trust, and he faced problems as required by the profession he belongs to; He is a responsible intellectual and a qualified artist who has tried to find answers to these problems in newspaper columns and in novels and stories. Her; His testimony, which came to the fore in a very troubled process that evolved from the Empire to the Republic, from single-party to multi-party life, to democracy, and to revolutions updated in ten-year periods, is important in terms of getting to know both himself and the society. The contribution of thousands of writings and dozens of books, which are the fruits of testimony, to our cultural memory is indisputable. With this study, I wanted to clarify the identity and personality of the contributor in the first chapter. Then, what Turkey, which carried the modernization legacy initiated by the Ottoman Empire to a higher level, gave to Buğra, how he directed his formation, what criticisms he brought to Turkey, which was on the path of modernization, and where he was wrong, as well as his accurate views on our socio-political life. I wanted to draw attention.

I must say that I witnessed an interesting adventure: While Turkey, which escaped from the clutches of imperial appetite with a great resistance, came somewhere with the modest means of its founding, Buğras also had the opportunity to grow up with the opportunities provided by that modest Turkey and become a man and come somewhere. The story of Buğra as an individual, from Akşehir to Dersaadet, is an interesting and exemplary story. Because in his life-tested story, we see ourselves a little bit; We find our own footprints, the pride and excitement of our own struggle for existence, on the roads extending from towns to cities.
