Genghis Khan's Tatar Khaganate Book Description Historians claim that Genghis Khan was a Mongol and that the khanate he founded was a Mongol khanate. According to this official history, the Mongols, who were a small minority, established a great empire by dominating the Turks, who were much more numerous than them. However, none of these historians can explain the existence of a people called Mongols in history before Genghis Khan, based on any historical source. With Genghis Khan, the Mongols suddenly appeared on the stage of history as if they had fallen from the sky. The only document that these historians put forward as a historical source is the text called *Secret History of the Yuan Dynasty* written in Chinese. This text, which is actually nothing more than an epic, is now known as *The Secret History of the Mongols*. There is no information about the Mongols in Mahmud of Kashgar's Divanî Lugat el Türk, written at the end of the 11th century, which is of great importance not only as a very valuable dictionary but also as a very valuable historical document. In his work, Mahmud of Kashgar mentions Persians, Tibetans and even Japanese, in addition to all the Turkish tribes whose names he writes, but he does not mention a single word about the Mongols. I wonder whether Mahmud of Kashgar, who knew his homeland Central Asia very well, did not take the Mongols into consideration, or did he not encounter any Mongols in Central Asia? How could Kashgarli talk about the existence of a non-existent people in his work? However, according to Chinese and Western historians and even Turkish historians who repeat them without questioning, Mongols have lived together with Turks throughout history. It turns out that Mahmud of Kashgar never noticed these Mongols with whom he lived! In Tevarihî Güzideî Nusret Nâme, which was written in the 16th century and is a very valuable historical source for Turkish history, he writes that the people called Mongols were actually Tatars. However, according to historians who argue that the Mongols were a separate people from the Turks, these works apparently have no importance. (From the Promotional Bulletin)
