Prof. Dr. Between 1936 and 1949, Hellmut Ritter worked at the Department of Arabic and Persian at the Faculty of Letters of Istanbul University. In 1953, he started working at the Institute of Oriental Studies at Frankfurt University. Ritter, who taught at Istanbul University between 1959 and 1969 and contributed to the founding of the Oriental Institute, returned to Germany in 1969 and died in Oberursel, Germany, on May 19, 1971.
Professor Ritter is the person who initiated modern Eastern languages and science research in Turkey.
