The Epic of Gilgamesh, which describes Gilgamesh's poetic journey in pursuit of immortality, is the oldest known literary text. This epic, written/engraved in cuneiform on clay tablets, is almost as old as writing. Famous Assyriologist Jean Bottéro compiled for the first time all the parts of the epic that were unearthed through new excavations.
