Mutlu Prens
Although it is thought that Oscar Wilde wrote the tales in The Happy Prince, published in 1888, for his sons, the author explained his target audience as "child-spirited people from seven to seventy, and those who preserve their childish abilities such as surprise and joy." Wilde reveals and criticizes selfishness and insensitivity in these tales. His main characters sometimes realize their mistakes, regret it, and exhibit altruistic behavior. Sometimes they cannot get rid of the arrogance that blinds them. Although The Happy Prince is the product of his apprenticeship, it reveals Wilde's mastery in the field of fairy tales and allegory.
