The Kingdom of This World

A eulogy for a kingdom is also a lament for slavery. The story of extraordinary events from a period no longer than a human lifetime on the island of Santo Domingo, Haiti, but also the literature of a history sharpened and riveted by rebellion, allowing the magic to flow freely in a reality where all the details are closely monitored... A spell that shows that the monarchy is only a monarchy at the moment of death. A reality that shows that every kind of slavery is slavery only when you take control of your own destiny.

A comparative historical continuity where the crowns of kings roll on the ground, sorcerers take up arms, epaulettes are given to the riot, and slaves distill poison; a narration of the heartbreaking and tragic development of events, the imaginary appearances of personalities, and the ceaseless transformation of places, in a style befitting the Serpent God Damballah, in a serpentine language. An epic based on Marxist sentimentalism but also on the reality of Voodoo magic.
