    The Istanbul Encyclopedia, (volume 8, 1995) contains the following information about Zaro Ağa:
    Zaro Agha (1777 Bitlis / 1934, Istanbul). One of the longest living people in the world. He came to Istanbul at a young age. He worked as a porter and laborer. Selimiye Barracks (1800-1805?); He said that he worked on the construction of 1825-1827 and Ortaköy Mosque (1853). He also worked as a janitor in Istanbul Municipality for a while. Zaro Agha, who was examined by doctors in Europe and America in order to solve the secret of long life, managed to remain physically and mentally healthy until the end of his life.
