Viktor E. Frankl left behind a very comprehensive body of work. The book, “The Search for God and the Problem of Meaning,” is not among the other published books because the original manuscript and audio recordings of the work were discovered in May 2004 while Frankl's private archive was being recorded.

The book titled "The Search for God and the Problem of Meaning", which emerged as a result of a few hours of conversation that Viktor Frankl had with the Jewish theologian Pinchas Lapide at his home in Vienna, was found in proof prints in the author's legacy. Both authors edited the book twice and wrote the foreword, making the book ready for publication. We still have no information as to why the book was not published.
