The Soda Tree and Other Stories
In addition to being a poet and playwright, Sabahattin Kudret Aksal is the humble master of our contemporary storytelling, who unfortunately wrote little, but managed to meticulously maintain a certain quality of language and style in each of his writings. His mastery is also documented by the fact that two books in which he collected his stories received important awards; Soda Tree won the 1955 Sait Faik Story Gift, and Wounded Animal won the 1957 Turkish Language Association art gift. In this second book of the "All Works" series, which we started with "Batık Kent", in which he collected his last poems, Aksal's book was published in Küllük magazine in 1940. You will find all his productivity in the field of short stories, from his first story to his last. It will remind those who know Sabahattin Kudret Aksal's storytelling. An excellent resource to introduce it to those who don't know it.
