The Turn of Slavery
Slavery Landscaping Book Description
The Turn of Slavery is the story of the disintegration of the unique lifestyles of the Abkhaz and Adyghe Circassians, who lived a free life under the Crimean khans in their ancestral homeland of the Caucasus at the end of the 18th century, which is expressed in all its colors in the novel. After the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca in 1774, some Circassian tribes, who were worried about Crimea falling under Russian influence, asked the Ottomans for help against the Russians, which was the beginning of the end. The Ottomans, through Ferah Ali Pasha, whom they appointed as Soğucak guard, want to "civilize" the "mountainous and wild" Circassians by converting them to Islam, and thus use them against Russia, which wants to dominate the Northern Black Sea by binding them to them. However, some Circassian tribes view with concern the Islamization efforts, which they see as a threat to their traditional way of life.
