The Vagabond Anarchist and the Pursuit of Mischief Book Description: World War II in the Ottoman Empire. This book, which tries to interpret the Abdulhamid period on the axis of security policies and control of geographical mobilization, examines the modern state building process on the axis of passports, memorandum permits and hotel regulations and practices. The author bases his research on Ottoman documents and modern state sociology discussions. It questions the intellectual tendency in question by evaluating the security policies, which are thought to be specific to Abdulhamid, within modern state debates and with a global simultaneity. The Sublime Porte March in Istanbul, the Kumkapı Demonstration, the Ottoman Bank Raid, the Ottoman Bank Bombing in Thessaloniki and bombings in other parts of the city, railway sabotage, assassination attempts targeting police officers and finally the failed World War II. Abdulhamid's assassination is considered as important historical events in terms of the threat perception of the Ottoman state elites and the security policies shaped on this axis. In this context, the relationship between the implementation of anti-anarchist measures in Europe and the Ottoman Empire is tried to be discussed. II. Security measures such as the strict passport regime that was tried to be implemented during the reign of Abdulhamid, especially the control of entrances and exits to Istanbul and the monitoring of suspicious persons are discussed within the framework of the questions of what the state sees as a threat, what kind of a discourse it establishes regarding these elements or situations, and what practices it uses regarding them.
