Theocracy and Secularism
There is no society without standards of value; However, some values, instead of changing according to the requirements of time, tend to harden and calcify over time. This tells us three things; There is a very cohesive unity among the people of the society; People find it very comfortable and easy to live by following immutable rules; Their societies have hardened like the hardening of the arteries of aging people. People like such a situation very much. However, there is no society that does not suffer from the necessity of change. Under the blows of time, some people abandon the standards they are accustomed to, violate some of them secretly or openly; Others either begin to receive new rules from outside or develop new rules themselves. Conflicts begin in the inner lives of those who do this, and there are countless images of this.
The values that are held highest in a society also tend to masquerade as religious values, especially in times like these. Religion is the last refuge of tradition, the last bastion of defense. In fact, many habits that come from the roots of the old life of the society easily acquire the quality of being a requirement of religion. That is why the essence of the word modernization seems to be the work of saving the society from this fever of religiousization, as the word "secularization" wants to say, and here the meanings of the terms "laicisme" and "secularism" fit together, even though they come from different word origins.
