Ormanda Ölüm Yokmuş
Go back in time, way back… When the winds started blowing in the world, there weren’t any trees, right? Look at the shape of the leaves! The way the branches scatter… It seems that trees were formed knowing the wind.
There Was No Death in the Forest is the story of Emin, who has given up painting, and Yasemin, who writes stories but keeps them to herself. Emin, in the pain of being separated from the woman he loves, takes refuge in the forest. Yasemin, who is also suffering from love pain, accompanies him on this inner journey where he comes to terms with the past. The two share their pain, dreams, and loves in long dialogues. With the guests being trees, clouds, wind, and leaves, this conversation will deepen and enrich itself immensely, gradually turning into an existential questioning.
There Was No Death in the Forest, in which Latife Tekin adopts a clear, serene narrative, should be read as much as a praise of nature as it is a critique of culture. While the emotional and mental problems caused by urban life in humans are depicted, the inevitability of establishing a relationship based on harmony with nature is also emphasized. Today, when we are experiencing a great ecological destruction, when a terrible noise drowns out all the sounds of the planet, and when millions of young people roll up their sleeves to save the dying nature, the call of There Is No Death in the Forest, which records our alienation from nature, undoubtedly gains even more importance.
