We thought that the great wide plains, beautiful hills, and winding rivers were "wild". Only for the white man was nature "wild" and only for him was the land invaded by "wild" animals and "savage" people. For us, nature only became "wild" when hairy men from the east came and with brutal enthusiasm inflicted so much injustice on us and the people we love. When all the animals in the forest began to flee from their spread, only then did the "Wild West" begin for us.

Touch the Earth consists of selected pieces from the words and writings of North American Indians. All of these together tell about the life and fate of the Native Americans and how this way of life is trying to be resurrected as a culture that has proven itself. Thus, the values that make Native American life different and take it beyond being an area of historical or political interest for us come to the fore; Living in harmony with nature and embracing the sacredness of the earth. This aspect of Native American legislation may be our common heritage.
