Sexual freedom is one of many terms that have been undermined in this country without being adequately evaluated. The left never discussed this. The voice of feminism could not become louder either. However, there has been a complete explosion in publications with sexual content since the 80s. Sexuality has never been so verbalized or so visible. A limited group of people experienced and still experience quantitative freedom as an innovation. However, the overwhelming majority does not take it into account in the way they perceive and live sexuality and personal relationships. There was no change in value because personal life was not politicized as an area that should be regulated in line with certain ethical values such as freedom, freedom from domination, and love. In this book, Giddens comments on the development of relationships based on libertarian values in daily life and the great changes that women have made in their personal relationships during modernity. The possibilities of a life policy perspective aiming at the democratization of life are evaluated. The two main dynamics of the process that the author calls the transformation of privacy are the emergence of a plastic sexuality disconnected from the necessity of reproduction, thanks to the developments in birth technology, and the increase in women's sexual autonomy. According to the author, the invention of motherhood and the development of romantic love ideals in the early 19th century enabled women, who were prevented from entering the public sphere, to specialize in affairs of the heart, and thus women left men alone in developing a self-narrative that could be processed through constant discussion. In the period of modernity, where external sources of meaning such as religion, tradition, etc. are rapidly declining, it is clear that people must give meaning to their own relationships, and women, the emotional revolutionaries of modernity, carry the flag in this. Men, whose control over women has decreased and who have difficulty in keeping up with the egalitarian pure relationship model brought by women, which is based on fully opening oneself to the other and the knowledge of love, excludes all kinds of addictions and must include sexual satisfaction, are forced to either resort to violence or redefine their own masculinity. Sexuality is no longer something determined by nature, but has become a self-identity open to formation. Why womanizing is now outdated and sexaholism; The Transformation of Privacy is an extremely important book that provides insightful comments on many subjects, from the theories of Freud, Foucault, Reich, Marcuse to gay culture, from the spread of pornography to the changes in the parent-child relationship. Its main concern is not economic growth and technological control, but emotional satisfaction and spiritual maturity. For those who think you need to create a civilization.
