Giving Life Its Due Book Description

No matter what age we are, we are all trying to complete our lives and ourselves. Because a life in search of meaning is always under construction.

Life goes by.
We want to live long but not grow old.
We think the longer we live, the happier we will be.
We don't want to be sad at all.
We live life to enjoy it and think that if we enjoy it, we will be happy.
We set goals and take steps.
We listen to the opinions of experts and implement what we are told, but we get confused.
We want a life worth living, but we don't know exactly how it will be.
So, how much do our actions match the findings of long-term scientific research?

This book aims to accompany the reader and give him the opportunity to evaluate his life. While Acar Baltaş questions the generally accepted assumptions by making use of scientific research, he discusses the truths about long life and the principles that lead the individual to happiness from a broad perspective.

Turkish Left (1960-1980) Is today's marginalized, apolitical and fragmented left inevitable? This study gives a "no" answer to this question right from the beginning. Today's Turkey could very well be a country where workers participate in the country's politics through their own organisations. Turkey's level of economic, industrial, political and cultural development, as well as the experiences of the left and social movement in the 1960-1980 period, show that this historical option has objective foundations. From this perspective, it is the subjective interventions and developments in the twenty years in question that determine the fate of the left. The left in Turkey both created and wasted its potential as the main subject of politics in the 1960s. Looking back, it can be seen that the period until 1968 was decisive in this regard. So why was the fate of the left determined by 1968? Why didn't the rise after 1968 or the enormous left massification in the 1974-1980 period mean the formation of a new dynamic in this field? What can be said about the historical responsibilities of left leaders throughout this entire process? This study seeks answers to these basic questions.
