Turkish Socialist Left Book 2
In Turkish Socialist Left Book 1: Selected Texts from the 20s to the 70s, we have brought together the basic texts that reflect the theoretical adventure of the Turkish socialist movement and the different orientations it took, starting from its east and extending to the 70s. This volume, which continues where the first book left off, contains texts that clearly explain - at least we think so - the reasons for the existence of socialist organizations and structures that emerged in the period between 74-80 and embodied the continuities and breaks with the previous period. In the book, we tried to include texts that reflect what the Turkish socialist left experienced from March 12 to 1980, what socialist thought pursued in this period, and in what contexts socialist groups differed from each other. One of our main aims was to clarify how the groups that set different political-ideological lines for themselves perceived Marxism - and Leninism - as a basis for this.
The history of the Turkish socialist left in these lands is the history of theoretical, political and intellectual courage. If we really look at the intellectual and practical experience of the socialist left, it has always had a world of its own, a 'vital' intellectual tradition. It was quite strong in the 70s. Even in times of defeat that lasted more than thirty years, he may have been weak and powerless, but he always built a living space where he existed with his own identity. You were always after a problem, a quest. He did not give up digging a well with a needle. But after September 12, he did not act so boldly in his efforts to question the past open-heartedly, to learn from the mistakes made, to thoroughly examine the official history and intellectual grounds, and to establish a new paradigm.
