Victory or Nothing
Iskender, the king of Macedonia, is advancing in the east after defeating Dara. Dara's daughter Rukzan hides her identity and takes refuge in the palace of Esber, the ruler of Punjab. Esber's sister Sumru fell in love with Iskender without seeing him. While there is a back and forth between Sumru and Iskender, who meet secretly and make love, Rukzan also loves Iskender. Despite all Sumru's requests, Iskender walks to the Punjab country. When Sumru cannot control her lover, she wants to dissuade her brother from this war. However, Esber knows that he is responsible to his people. He fights and kills Sumru, whom he considers a traitor. When this news reaches Alexander, the king tramples Rukzan, who wants to prevent him, with his horse. Punjab falls, Esber is chained. Iskender, amazed by Esber's heroism, releases him and returns his sword. Taking the sword, Esber commits suicide. Surrounded by the corpses of Esber, Sumru and Rukzan, Iskender asks his teacher Aristotle about the meaning of this. The work ends with Aristotle's answer:
